Introduction

Idioms are colourful aspect of English. They are commonly used in all typed of language. Alongside standard English, the ostensibly "pure" language of formal speech and writting, stand several sub_species of language. One of them is Slang. "Slang is a language that rolls up its sleeves, spits on its hands, and goes to work." (Carl Sandburg)

Expressions that can be called slang make up a major part of communiction in movies, TV, radio, news papers, and informal spoken conversation. Although strictly speaking, taboo words are not slang.
